The rich culture of Edo state is evident in the beautiful, elaborate attire of the Edo bride and today we celebrate the sublimity of the Edo traditional bride of Nigeria. Edo brides are known for their elaborate beaded bridal wear – complete with a crown and accessories. The hair – the most important part of the look, is made into a high bun hairstyle known as Eto-Okuku, typically created with black gel; coral beads are then sewn into the hair or extensions into the form of a crown, called Okuku.
With her Okuku (beaded crown), her Ivie (coral beads- a symbol of royalty) and her luxurious wrapper(s), the Edo bride is a show-stopper in every way.
